While shooting basketball courts in Hong Kong for my project SHOOTING HOOPS, I frequently noticed an equally compelling tableau from above: swimming pools. A necessary amenity in Hong Kong's tropical climate, the city is dotted with outdoor pools. They range from large public lap pools to mosaic designs at giant private residential complexes to tiny pools in far-flung communities. While finishing shooting basketball courts, I began mapping and documenting pools around the city in earnest, shooting over 900 in total. This is a selection of them, with a book and exhibition forthcoming.
